Time: 4:00 am – 5:30 am ChST
Content: This webinar addresses efforts to advance translational criminology – that is, translating research to policy and practice – in order to improve justice for women and girls. Specifically, this informational session draws upon recent work by the Division on Women & Crime of the American Society of Criminology (DWC) to bring the research of its members directly to policy-focused audiences, including a 2018 Congressional Briefing in Washington, D.C. and panels at the 2019 UN Commission on the Status of Women. Presenters Dr. Sheetal Ranjan, current DWC Chair, and Dr. Amanda Burgess-Proctor, immediate past DWC Chair, discuss these recent efforts and offer recommendations for resources that practitioners might use to connect with researchers to promote justice-forward policies for women and girls who are victims, offenders, and practitioners in the U.S. criminal justice system.
Presenters: Sheetal Ranjan, PhD, Chair, Division on Women & Crime Professor, William Paterson University, NJ and Amanda Burgess-Proctor, PhD, Immediate Past Chair, Division on Women & Crime Associate Professor, Oakland University, MI.
