VARO, a non-profit volunteer corporation, provides free and confidential services 24/7 to victims and families of domestic violence, sexual assault, abuse, violent crime and traumatic events regardless of sex, color, gender, religion, or age. Victim services include crisis interventions/personal advocacy; emergency shelter with food, clothing, personal hygiene and safety planning; legal advocacy (I.e. accompaniment to police precincts, court hearings, and Pro Se Protection Order assistance); referrals to other community services, programs, and partners; and public transportation assistance. VARO also serves the community by participating in community outreaches and events, and conducting presentations and training for schools, workplaces, and other establishments on family violence, sexual assault, child abuse, cyber-stalking, teen dating, and more.
