Hosted By: National Criminal Justice Training Center

Date: Wednesday, April 28, 2021

Time: 4:00am – 5:30am

Description: Over 80% of all people under supervision in the criminal justice system have experienced trauma or show symptoms of trauma. Additionally, probation, parole and victim/survivor service providers encounter a high percentage of victim/survivors that are experiencing trauma. It is critically important for criminal justice professionals to have skills to recognize and address trauma. Without being trauma-informed, we miss a vital component of responsivity when attending to client and victim/survivor needs. During the webinar, you will learn about the foundation of trauma, the impact of trauma on the brain, and how to recognize symptoms in ourselves and others. We will also cover what it means to be trauma-informed in every interaction as well as strategies to effectively support ourselves and others through a trauma-response.
