Description: Join the Victim Rights Law Center and guest presenter attorney Kate Walz, Associate Director of Litigation at the National Housing Law Project, for a webinar and companion Share & Learn discussion exploring how legal advocates can help survivors of gender-based violence exercise their housing rights. Kate will review the relevant federal housing protection laws and summarize the changes to housing law in the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). Participants will then practice applying federal housing laws to a series of common scenarios. The companion Share & Learn discussion is an opportunity to ask follow-up questions, share resources and strategies, and discuss how best to protect survivors’ housing rights. Note: This webinar is for non-attorney legal advocates at community-based organizations that receive — or are eligible to receive — funding through the Office on Violence Against Women.
