Resilience: This Moment And Beyond

Topic: Resilience: This Moment And Beyond

Hosted By: Hollaback!

Date: Thursday, January 7, 2022

Time: 4:00 AM ChST

Description: The one-hour, interactive and experiential learning experience will teach you how to author your own resilience in during 2020, using Hollaback!’s resilience methodology: sit with what is, create your story, and be in choice. We’ll start by talking about what resilience really is, and how it’s different (and harder) than self-care. Using guided practices, we’ll learn how to hold our pain alongside our joy during this global pandemic. We’ll explore how we’re making sense of this moment -- and how that’s shaping our experience of it. And we’ll learn practices to recover quickly when we’re knocked down by the world.

Bystander Intervention to stop anti-Asian/American and xenophobic harassment

Topic: Bystander Intervention to stop anti-Asian/American and xenophobic harassment

Hosted By: Hollaback!

Date: Thursday, January 7, 2022

Time: 6:00 AM ChST

Description: "Anti-Asian/American and xenophobic harassment are on the rise across the US -- and the world. In this virtual workshop hosted on Zoom, and co-sponsored by Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC) and Hollaback!, we'll learn how you can intervene effectively as a bystander without ever compromising your safety.
The one-hour, interactive training will teach you Hollaback!'s 5D's of bystander intervention methodology. We'll start by talking about the types of disrespect that Asian and Asian American folks are facing right now -- from microaggressions to violence -- using a tool we call the ""spectrum of disrespect."" You'll learn what to look for and the positive impact that bystander intervention has on individuals and communities. We'll talk through five strategies for intervention: distract, delegate, document, delay, and direct; and how to prioritize your own safety while intervening. We'll have time at the end for practice, and you'll leave feeling more confident intervening the next time you see anti-Asian/American harassment online or in person."
