The Collaborative Approach to Providing Services to Campus Sexual Assault Survivors

Category:
Webinar
Hosted By: International Association of Forensic Nurses

Date: Saturday, February 27, 2021

Time: 5:00am – 6:00am

Description: Often times, it is not taken into consideration how important it is to take a collaborative approach to responding to survivors of a campus sexual assault. The survivors may be provided with misinformation regarding their rights and/or the process for them as campus survivors beyond that point of contact. They may not be provided with the resources that are necessary for them to move forward with returning back to their campus life. All disciplines that provide services to these survivors should have some basic knowledge of Title IX and the role that it plays both for the survivors as well as those responding. There should be some knowledge of the various roles as well as how they interact to ensure that appropriate services are provided at the time of disclosure and throughout the survivor’s process of an administrative Title IX investigation and hearing, should they choose to initiate the process. During this webinar Chelsea Daniels from the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence and Angelita Olowu of the International Association of Forensic Nurses will discuss these topics as well as cover the need for community outreach and collaboration with colleges and universities.
