Critical Issues Forum

Topic: Critical Issues Forum

Hosted By: Battered Women's Justice Projec

Date/Time: Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 4:00am - 5:00am ChST

Description: The National Center on Protection Orders and Full Faith and Credit (NCPOFFC) provides individualized training and technical assistance to allied professionals, system actors, and communities to facilitate the issuance, service, and enforcement of protection orders as well as other related issues. Every month, NCPOFFC will discuss critical issues and answer questions on protection order practice and related issues. These are live events. Participants have the opportunity to connect with peers and NCPOFFC Attorney Advisors to talk about challenges, strategies, emerging issues, promising practices, and more. In November, NCPOFFC will discuss the Strategic Assessment of Firearm Enforcement (SAFE) Tool. The S.A.F.E. Tool is an inventory of questions designed to facilitate a discussion with a survivor on safety strategies around firearms. In addition, we will also discuss the Firearm Checklist for Advocates. The discussion this month is directed toward community advocates and attorneys that provide assistance to victims in protection order matters. Bring your questions or submit them in advance. Registration is required to participate in the discussion. We look forward to you joining us! Unavailable for this discussion? NCPOFFC is available to provide individualized virtual office hours via phone and Zoom. Staff offer research assistance, legislative analysis, tools, and access to experts in the field.
