Hosted By: Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault

Date/Time: Friday, June 10, 2022 at 4:00 AM ChST

Every sexual assault advocate has supported a survivor who dissociates, whether they know it or not. Join part one of this four part panel discussion to learn more about what dissociation is, how it impacts the lives of survivors, and what advocates can do to help survivors navigating dissociation. Panelists joining for these conversations include Olga Trujillo, a survivor and expert on dissociative identity disorder, Nicole Matthews, an expert on sexual violence and advocacy in Native communities, and Kris Bein, an expert on advocacy skills. Closed captions in English and Spanish language interpretation will be provided during the webinar.

Advocating for children and youth experiencing trauma

Topic: Advocating for children and youth experiencing trauma

Hosted By: Red Wind Consulting, Inc

Date/Time: Wednesday, June 10, 2022 at 5:00AM ChST

Description: Domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, teen dating, and sex trafficking affect a disproportionate number of children and youth in native communities. This webinar will cover how children are affected by trauma, how their trauma symptoms differ, and what to expect while giving advocacy to children and youth. Each child's reaction to trauma will be unique, however nearly all children who have been through trauma may undergo emotional or behavioral changes for a period of time. When reactions become severe and persistent, they might constitute a problem. This webinar will look at trauma and how to give services and supports to help victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, teen dating, and sex trafficking cope with it.
