Opioid Addiction and Interpersonal Violence
Hosted By: EVAWI - End Violence Against Women International
Time: 3:00 am ChST
Description: Substance abuse and addiction impacts individuals, interpersonal relationships, and the community at large. The connection between alcohol and domestic violence has long been established, but what about other drugs? This program will examine the link between opioid addiction and interpersonal violence. Although there are significant differences in terms of progression, treatment, and outcome, addressing drug use within relationships involves an understanding of the unique aspects of opioid addiction, how it develops, and best practices for treatment both individually, and relationally.
This program will cover the types of drugs that are commonly used within relationships, how drug use can progress to abuse, and how different types of drugs produce different types of behavior. It will also cover areas of individual differences such as provocation and predisposition, and present some red flags signaling problematic drug use, and other indications of potential dangerousness.
As a result of this webinar, participants will be better able to:
Bystander Intervention to stop harassment toward the LGBTQIA+ community
Topic: Bystander Intervention to stop harassment toward the LGBTQIA+ community
Hosted By: Hollaback
Time: 3:00 AM
Description: This one-hour, interactive training will teach you Hollaback!’s 5D’s of bystander intervention methodology. We’ll start by talking about the types of disrespect that LGBTQIA+ folks are facing right now — from microaggressions to violence — using a tool we call the “spectrum of disrespect.” You’ll learn what to look for and the positive impact that bystander intervention has on individuals and communities. We’ll talk through five strategies for intervention: distract, delegate, document, delay, and direct; and how to prioritize your own safety while intervening. We’ll have time at the end for practice, and you’ll leave feeling more confident intervening the next time you see anti-LGBTQIA+ harassment.
