This webinar is designed to give lay leaders, congregants, and pastors alike the tools and strategies to address domestic violence from a faith perspective. The presenter will discuss the complex dynamics surrounding domestic violence, in particular spiritual abuse, as well as share helpful responses to survivors and paths to accountability for perpetrators. Participants will learn how faith communities can build trust, establish partnerships, and connect survivors with intervention and prevention efforts in their communities.

  1. Recognize how domestic violence can show up in faith communities
  2. Share helpful responses when domestic violence is disclosed
  3. Proactively address domestic violence response and prevention within faith communities
Rev. Lydia Mulkey is the Minister of Education for the First United Church of Oak Park. She completed her Master of Divinity at Pacific School of Religion. She has served in children and youth ministry at churches in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and in Tennessee. She also serves on the Outdoor Ministries Committee for the Northern California Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ. Lydia has a passion for youth ministry and for creating safe and healthy environments in which youth can find their voices and tell their stories.
