World Elder Abuse Awareness Day: Lifting Up Voices of Older Survivors
Provided by: National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life
Date: June 6, 2019
Time: 4:00 am – 5:00 am ChST

On June 5, the National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life (NCALL), Terra Nova Films (TNF), the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC), and the National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA) will unveil the LUV video project and share these memorable stories with the field to receive critical and timely feedback on these draft training videos and guidebook materials during the period of pilot testing and stakeholder review.  For the past year, NCALL and TNF have interviewed a dozen older survivors of elder abuse.  During this webinar, Bonnie Brandl and Jim Vanden Bosch will describe the OVC-funded project and share four short draft video clips highlighting intimate partner violence, sexual abuse, stalking, and financial exploitation in later life.  Dr. Pamela Teaster of Virginia Tech will discuss how you can help shape this national-scope project by helping to evaluate our efforts and inform our work on future products.  NCEA staff will describe how the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2019 Lifting Up Voices theme and other initiatives are raising awareness about older survivors throughout the country.
